How to Create Strong Passwords

Making strong password is the most basic of security
measures and most of us totally suck at it. Birthdays,
astrological signs, pet names, indeed, any word that can
be found in the dictionary have no business as your
password. And even if you avoid the obvious mistakes,
there are a few simple steps you can take to make a good
password great. Check out these tips before you create
your next password. In fact, take this as a chance to
upgrade some of your old ones.

Carrier IQ 'Vigorously Disagrees' with Critics

Carrier IQ has taken a beating these last few days, in
part because users didn't fully understand what the
service does. Now the company has released a statement
that should clarify things a bit. The company claims
their service is really designed to help carriers
understand the user experience so it can solve problems
like dropped calls and unexplained battery drain. It also
completely denies that the service logs keystrokes. Check
out our story for more details.

Siri is Dumb. There, We Said It

Siri's limitations have made for lots of humorous send-ups
online, but this week a more serious criticism was leveled.
Turns out, if you ask Siri about the location of an abortion
clinic, it will most likely send you to an anti-abortion
advocacy site. The reason is easy enough to understand: Pro-
choice organizations rarely use the word "abortion" in their
official documentation, but pro-life sites often do. Siri is
just playing the odds. Damon Poeter has more on Siri's
limitations and our ridiculous expectations.

Review: Mint for iPhone

Mint is a hugely popular online personal financial management
service, but a lot of people don't know there are Android and
iPhone versions as well. Although no substitute for the desktop
client, they provide a great way to check your accounts on the
go. If you are worried about losing your phone and someone
seeing your bank accounts, just password protect your info. See
above for how to pick the password.

First Issue of Action Comics sells for $2.1 million

Action Comics launched the superhero age of comics in 1938. The
iconic image of Superman lifting a car over his head leaves just
enough confusion; is he a hero protecting the innocent or some
new villain destroying private property and threatening the
masses? Now the answer seems obvious, but back then there was no
concept of the superhero to base it on. Check out geek.com to
find out why this issue is so valuable.

don't know is that the tools they use to make all those chips are
often made by Applied Materials. ExtremeTech's Sebastian Anthony
