'PERSON OF THE YEAR'

Dear Indiana,

Click here to get your souvenir Greenpeace wallpaper.

Congratulations! You are TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’. [1]

You form the lakhs of petitions which bewilder ministers and corporate heads, the phone calls and faxes which make them break into a sweat. Your actions make them act, you help bring about change.

This year has seen a lot of revolutions and this, as many would say, is just the beginning. The year also marked ten years of Greenpeace in India. It’s tough to sum-up ten years in a few words. So here are a few pictures which tell the story of ten years of Greenpeace in India. You can also download these images and use them as wallpapers on your computer screen.

Our forests still face the threat of destruction from coal mining and our food is not safe from genetic modification. Nuclear energy still threatens our future and climate change continues to be the single largest threat faced by our environment. The Earth still needs its heroes to protect it from these threats.

These ten years of fighting for our planet were possible because of your support. In the years ahead, the planet will need more and more support from its people. This support will help further the struggle to keep our planet safe for years to come.

Celebrate what you have helped achieved for the Earth so far. Re-live the ten years of Greenpeace in India.
