Workhorse Bar
From no-class to working class

When your favorite dive gets turned into a fancy lounge, you get angry. But when it gets turned into a grime-free-but-still blue-collar watering hole, you get even... more beers! That's why you should be happy that a couple of old college buddies have turned the old North Loop Parlor into Workhorse, disinfecting a bit, but otherwise keeping things free of preciousness, and maintaining a things-might-get-loud vibe via acrylic recreations of album art by Mastodon, Queen, and Stone Temple Pilots (so you can still feel comfortable Weilan' out).
Pull up on a house-built raw oak stump barstool to suckle 50+ taps (30 locals!) including just-launched Adelbert's (Tripel, Rambler), Thirsty Planet (Yellow Armadillo, Buckethead), Circle's Blur, and Austin Beerworks' Gold Fist, as well as more established suds like Independence (Austin Amber, Convict Hill, Stash IPA, Lupulust) and Live Oak's Pilz, Hefe, and, keeping you drinking what you're sitting on: Big Bark.
The cocktail menu's in the works, but will lean heavily on the Hill Country with tequilas like Dulce Vida, Republic, and Pepe Z, rums including Treaty Oak, Pecan Street, and Cypress Creek, gins from Waterloo and Roxor, the de rigueur Tito's and Paula's Texas Orange/Lemon, and whiskeys from Balcones and Ranger Creek, though hopefully the team'll one day get something better than three feet of murky water named after them.
A full menu of bar eats is being rolled out over the next few weeks, meaning you can balance that beer with bison chili, goat cheese-stuffed jalapenos, and beer brats, aka, your old college buddies.
