Pharmacy giant, Walgreens is proceeding with plans to expand a large customer care center in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. To reward the company for bringing jobs in, the town's City Council recently approved a 10-year tax abatement agreement that excuses Walgreens from non-education state and local personal property taxes and all construction-related transaction taxes, except those levied for educational purposes. Personal property taxes, approximately $34,758, will be waived for the life of the agreement. Such agreements are common for towns seeking to boost employment.
