Bernanke's Optimism Fails to Answer Stimulus Questions

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's comments today may have left some market-watchers disappointed. He informed Congress that the Federal Reserve is monitoring events in Europe and is prepared to take action as needed, although he offered no hints about a possible stimulus. He remained optimistic while stating, "despite economic difficulties in Europe, the demand for exports held up well."

After this scheduled announcement, the U.S. dollar terminated the Canadian dollar's sixth day high streak as it strengthened. One of our Forex analysts, Mark Maldonado, created this chart illustrating the opportunity news-conscious traders had to capture more than 50 pips.
