Conflict within any business ecosystem is normal, and the Internet ecosystem is no exception. Access providers argue that immense value creation within the ecosystem does not flow in sufficient measure to access providers who have to supply the infrastructure that makes all the other businesses possible. Every year on this day, like most Americans, I flashback to the horrific events of September 11, 2001. It seems like only yesterday that the world changed forever. You likely remember precisely where you were, who you were with and how you felt as the day unfolded. It's hard not to do so. Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg offered some of his company's strategy on Tuesday - but kept many details a secret. The hacking group known as Anonymous, or one of its operatives, duped much of the technology sector into believing it was responsible for an outage at GoDaddy this week. But the company says the outage was due to an internal routing error and had nothing to do with hacking or the infamous global group. It has been a very busy season for the tablet business. In the summer of 2012, Google launched the Google Nexus 7 device. It is commonplace for the media that covers technology to feature the wonders of innovation and highlight all of the "cool" things it enables and the benefits foreseen as a result of mass adoption. The glass is half full view of the digital age has, like it or not, increasingly been interrupted in the past few years by such unpleasant things as cyber attacks (malware, bots, denial of service attacks, etc.), and the need in an increasingly dangerous world to make risk mitigation of mission critical data and processes a top business priority.
