The University of Connecticut Fire Department (UCFD) plans to implement a new system known as, the CommandScope All Hazard Pre-Incident Plan program. This program will help the university implement better safety and emergency respond procedures for its students, staff members, patients, and visitors.
The university currently houses four platoons of firefighters, fire inspectors, and chief officers throughout the campus, who are on call 24/7. These rescue workers are in charge of protecting the nearly 35,000 students on campus in addition to all other residents throughout the facilities. This new safety program is designed to create a pre-planned emergency system that responders can revert back to during a crisis. It will also help responder’s access critical information including maps, photographs, utility shutoff locations, floor plans, and fire protection systems. In addition, CommandScope allows users to have access to the most critical, pre-plan information on a single screen, providing touchscreen access to floor plans, site plans, GIS maps, hazmat, and more.
