He says "Your ability to get results as a hypnotist is only as good as your model of hypnosis."
When I first heard him say that it really got me thinking. Many hypnotists seem to have a "weak" model of hypnosis. This is demonstrated in their belief that lasting change can only happen after multiple sessions.
Some hypnotists have no real model of hypnosis at all! Instead they have memorized inductions and written scripts that they hope will work.
The hypnosis model that Jeff and I use is simple and elegant. Simply put, a person is in hypnosis when you have control and access to their subconscious mind. When changes happen at that level all changes are permanent and lasting. The hypnosis model also includes how to gain access and control of the subconscious mind.
The result is that permanent change usually happens in one session regardless of how long they've had their problem.
I know many hypnotists who don't believe it's possible to help a client in one session and their results show it!
This hypnosis model is so important that when we are teaching hypnosis we spend an entire evening on it.
There are a lot of ways to learn hypnosis and a lot of people who teach it. Try to find out what their model of hypnosis is. I think you'll be surprised how many hypnotists haven't really thought about it.
