We opened our doors in 1996, when Riddle’s Penultimate Café & Wine Bar was the only other restaurant in St. Louis sourcing seasonal, locally produced ingredients and bringing them from the family farms, growers and artisans straight to the dining table.  (That luscious chicken in the photo above came from Double Star Farm, just over in Bluford, IL.) Since that day, it's been what drives us. And we're thrilled to see the trend expanding.  Because we know that when we buy from our neighbors we're supporting their families, their employees and their families, and our local economy, while we're also supporting sustainable growing practices.  Which is exactly what you're supporting when you come to Harvest for dinner.  But it's more than a trend toward buying local - we're seeing a national trend toward honoring our earth and our bodies in the food we choose to eat. We're seeing more and more people who care as much about where their food comes from, and the practices used to produce it, as they do about how it is presented or even how wonderful it tastes. We recently posted 10 TIPS FOR DINING IN COMFORTABLE ELEGANCE WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE, and the response has been fantastic. Which lifts our hearts, and puts a big smile on our faces.  Because that list represents the reasons that this restaurant was founded, and the reasons we're still here.  So this weekend, as you remember all the things that make this country what it is, and the people who have paid the price to make it so, we hope you'll take a moment to thank a local business owner for their commitment and contribution too.
