| | | | | | | | | | Nice, France was the place to be this week-and not just for the weather, wine, and foie gras. Pipeline held the 2014 COMET Awards ceremony at the historic Le Negresco, and presented trophies across ten categories of innovation. Winners this year included Ericsson, Nokia, Tail-f, AT&T, Amdocs, CSG International, GENBAND, and comScore. Want to be recognized for innovation by the most objective and thorough awards program in the industry? Early bird pricing and entry for the 2015 COMET Awards is now available. Down the street from Le Negresco, vendors and service providers converged at TMF Live, and presented their latest products, PowerPoints, and pundits. The TM Forum, producers of TM Forum Live! event, made a surprising announcement that Keith Willets will be stepping down as the organization continues to move more towards serving other digital enterprises outside of traditional telecom. Notable announcements included big data analytics portfolios from Ericsson and Amdocs, virtualized OSS and BSS solutions from most software vendors, evolved products that leverage or integrate the strengths of NFV and SDN, and the entry of Huawei into the commercial OSS market. Market consolidation continues to typify the telecom space. Sprint is poised to purchase T-Mobile for a premium, MYCOM has acquired OSI, and Nokia is enriching its radio portfolio with its latest acquisition. Taking a different tactic, three service providers in Africa recently partnered to make their mobile money platforms interoperable. Best, Jesse CrydermanSenior Editor |
