Good morning Andrew,
Let's start with this morning's market moving headlines......Russia and the Ukraine have agreed to a cease fire after a marathon meeting.....The European Union and Greece are deadlocked regarding Greece's debt repayment proposal.....Sweden has become the next country to brace itself against the impact of a Euro-zone wide recession by lowering its interest rates.....Last but not least; the Bank of Japan stated its belief that additional stimulus would not be that effective....The news is somewhat supportive of higher metals prices.....
Silver is 12 cents higher at $16.92 ......Gold id $1225.00 up $6.00.....Palladium sits at $777.00 up $8.00.....Platinum is higher by $10.00 to $1206.00....
Crude Oil continued to push higher in the aftermath of yesterday's larger than expected rise in inventories, not to mention the news above.....Last trade 450.25 up $1.141 per barrel......
Meanwhile; the Euro is quiet against the U.S. Greenback.....
The Dow looks to open 90 points higher , but first we will get the release of two widely followed U.S. data points that could well change that opening number..... The Weekly Jobless Claims are expected to have risen to 285,000, up from 278,000.....Retail Sales are estimated to clock in with a decline of 0.4%. versus last month's decline of 0.9%....It's a better comparison, but still a contraction of economic output......
Meanwhile; European stocks are solidly higher.....
On a sad note, long time reporter for 60 Minutes, Mr. Bob Simon died in a Manhattan car crash last night...Many of us grew up with Bob Simon's war reporting......That's it........ |
