Unlikely Likely Match-Up: Altaïr vs. Ryu Hayabusa This week's battle is a duel of shadow-warriors from different cultures and different video games. Hailing from the Holy Land, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad is the main character of the first Assassin's Creed game, and a legendary assassin of his order. Highly skilled, Altaïr is a stealthy man capable of killing with speed and efficiency. In his life, he demonstrated mastery in the ways of combat, proving himself time and time again to be a skilled warrior who could fight in the open or slay from the shadows. Altaïr possessed Eagle Vision, which gave him the supernatural ability to detect things beyond the sight of normal men. Later in life, Altaïr also acquired an Apple of Eden, which bestowed on him greater knowledge, as well as the ability to control minds and create illusions. His opposite on today's battlefield is Ryu Hayabusa. Ryu, also known as the "Singular Super Ninja," is considered to be the greatest ninja alive in his world. Like any good ninja, Ryu has been conditioned since childhood to be a superb shinobi. He possesses physical abilities beyond most, allowing him to wield his sword with supernal skill and other weapons with amazing grace and dexterity. Spiritually powerful as well, Ryu has perfect control of his energy, allowing him to wield mystical abilities known as nimpo, granting him the ability to work amazing feats, such as creating and controlling flames, throwing blades of concentrated air, freezing time, healing wounds, and teleporting. Both are possessed of a noble spirit, yet both also know that sometimes the task at hand matters more than morality. If these two should meet and fight, who would win in that terrible battle?
