I'm not yet on the Email is dead bandwagon, but clearly the current mechanism of electronic communications is in need of revision. Real Time Communications (RTC) in combination with cloud storage clearly poses an alternative communications to traditional email and explains why Google, Microsoft and others have launched new style clients to cope with the glut of email many of us in the business world get on a daily basis.
There have been a great many hacking attacks of late, with a lot of big names ending up on the bad end of a hacker's efforts. This in turn has made a lot of IT decision makers consider where the next big threat to everyday operations and sensitive material will come from. A new study from Omnijoin, Brother International Corporation's Web conferencing division, shows that when IT decision makers start considering threats to the business, one of the first directions considered is Web conferencing.
I recently spoke with Steve Sokol, friend to Asterisk users and Digium lead, about the new initiative, Respoke. Respoke is a Communications Platform As A Service [PAAS] suite of WebRTC with a browser based API and mobile app development libraries.
