Lewis -- A budget is more than just numbers on a page -- it reflects our values and our priorities. As my friend Joe Biden likes to say, "Don't tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value." You don't have to look too hard at the budget House Republicans released earlier this month to figure out what they care about. Their budget doles out even more to millionaires and billionaires while cutting investments that benefit the middle class. The centerpiece of their plan is to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on more giant tax cuts for those at the top. And if you think this all sounds familiar, that's because this is the same kind of budget Republicans have been proposing for years. It's the same kind of plan we fought against in 2012 -- and won. So Lewis, you already know what we have to do to beat this plan again: Elect more Democrats. Your $10 contribution right now, before the first, big fundraising deadline of this upcoming election at midnight, is how we'll make that happen. If you've saved your payment information, your donation will go through immediately. QUICK DONATE: $10 QUICK DONATE: $25 QUICK DONATE: $50 QUICK DONATE: $100 QUICK DONATE: $200 Or donate another amount. Now, Democrats are offering a different path. The budget I've put forward is built on middle-class economics -- the idea that everybody does best when everybody gets their fair shot, everybody is doing their fair share, and everybody plays by the same rules. Our budget gives every American the tools they need to get ahead in a fast-paced, highly competitive world. It helps working families feel more secure, and builds a 21st century economy that will allow American businesses to keep churning out high-wage jobs for American workers to fill. Those are our values, Lewis -- values I hope you're as proud as I am to stand by. And they're values that I hope you'll commit to keep fighting for long after I leave office: https://my.democrats.org/Invest-in-Democrats Thanks, Barack Obama | |
