Tell the GOP to fund the Election Assistance Commission (add your name)

The GOP wants fewer people to vote -- period.

Help Democrats protect the right to vote -- add your name to call on Republicans to fully fund the Election Assistance Commission.

Lewis --

You might not have heard of it, but I'd bet you've benefitted from the work of the Election Assistance Commission.

The EAC is the federal agency charged with testing and certifying voting machines, helping states improve how elections are run, and getting information out to the public about voting.

And House Republicans voted to destroy it.

Add your name right now and call on the GOP to fully fund the Election Assistance Commission.

The EAC is a bipartisan commission, and it was created as a direct response to the 2000 presidential election -- when the Supreme Court, not the voters, decided the presidency.

Tuesday's vote to defund the EAC is yet another step by the GOP to undermine our most fundamental right, the right to vote. Whether it's cheering on the Supreme Court's decision to gut the Voting Rights Act, passing draconian voting restrictions and voter ID laws in state legislatures they control, or Trump's outrageous claim that millions of "illegal votes" cost him a popular vote victory, it's clear that Republicans want more chaos and more doubt in our elections.

They're doing it for one reason, Lewis: they want fewer Americans to vote.

As long as the GOP keeps chipping away at voting rights, we're not going to stand idly by. We will keep fighting to protect the right to vote to make sure that all Americans can make their voices heard.

If you're with us, then add your name and call on Republicans to restore the EAC and stop trying to restrict the right to vote.

Our democracy is what makes America great, Lewis, but it can't work if we don't do everything in our power to safeguard the right to vote. Thanks for taking action.
