Give Your Fuel Lines an Easy Boost

The fastest car in the garage won't do you any good if the fuel can't make it to the engine.

If you've got a bunch of gunk built up in the fuel line, there is no getting from point A to point B.

Same goes if there's a kink or leak in the line. And even if you have no idea that a problem is developing, fuel lines can rust away until they disintegrate.

In the human body, blood is kind of like fuel.

It's responsible for bringing oxygen, nutrients and hormones everywhere they're needed.

Healthy blood flow helps maintain our vision, sexual function and muscle strength...

And it's crucial to the aging process.

Here's how...

Low on Fuel

When blood flow starts to break down and has trouble making it to the capillaries that supply cells with oxygen... cells start to deteriorate faster.

Take Alzheimer's disease, for instance. This horrible disorder stems from a decrease in blood flow to the brain. And when brain cells begin to receive less oxygen, glucose and nutrients... they die.

When this fuel isn't flowing, it also makes us look and feel older.

So one of the best ways to slow down the aging process is to keep your fuel lines clear and functioning at their best.

But how do you know if they could use some help?

Fortunately, there's a noninvasive way to find out. It's called a flow-mediated dilation (FMD) test. This widely available test measures how well your blood vessels widen when blood flow increases.

The good news is that if your fuel lines need an extra boost, there's an easy way to give them one. And this solution doesn't require a prescription, or even another trip to the doctor.

A Natural Boost

You may have heard of nitric oxide before. It's a natural substance that helps our arteries dilate, function properly and stay healthy.

In other words, nitric oxide could play a major role in slowing down the aging process.

The problem is that we don't produce as much nitric oxide as we get older. So it's important to give this important process a little bit of help.

The good news is it's really not that hard.

Keep Moving

Exercise is an important catalyst in the production of nitric oxide.

But that doesn't mean you need to start training like an Olympian.

One of the best ways to support your nitric oxide levels is to stay active. Simply making sure to get enough steps in each day can have a big impact. Studies have shown that people who suddenly reduce how much they walk can greatly hurt their FMD score. But once they get active again, they are able to quickly raise FMD scores back to normal and increase nitric oxide production.

You don't need to go on long jaunts around the neighborhood to keep the fuel lines working right. Just remembering to stand up and walk around the house is helpful.

Studies have even shown that fidgeting and shaking the legs periodically can improve FMD scores and nitric oxide production.

An Even Easier Way to Boost Nitric Oxide

You can also boost nitric oxide production by eating the right foods.

Green and black teas are potent stimulators of nitric oxide production.

Eating veggies high in natural nitrates is also an excellent way to help out our fuel lines. Your body rapidly converts these nitrates into nitric oxide.

Some of the best sources include:
  • Spinach, cabbage and kale
  • Beets
  • Carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Potatoes
  • Peppers
  • Eggplants.
And there you have it. One of the most straightforward ways to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and heart disease, keep the muscles strong and functional, and slow the aging process is by simply keeping our arteries happy and healthy.
