Since our founding 23 years ago, we've had a simple purpose: every LGBTQ young person in crisis should have someone to talk to. Since our founding, we have been blazing trails in crisis services, research, education, advocacy, peer support, and technology. And the urgent demand to expand Trevor's life-saving work has meant rapid growth for our organization – all fueled by supporters like you. We truly can't thank you enough. As part of The Trevor Project's refreshed identity, we also have a new website that was thoughtfully designed with young people in mind. We hope you'll check it out! VISIT THETREVORPROJECT.ORG Lil Nas X Honored with The Trevor Project's Inaugural "Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year Award" You may know him best for his chart-topping "Old Town Road" or "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)," but every day, Lil Nas X is creating space for candid conversations around mental health and sexual identity by vulnerably sharing his own journey to self-acceptance and expression. Lil Nas X uses his platform to shed light on mental health issues many LGBTQ young people face. He has bravely discussed his own struggles with his sexuality and suicidal ideation, advocated around mental issues, and unapologetically celebrated his queer identity. It's for these reasons (and so many others) that we honored Lil Nas X for his unwavering support of LGBTQ youth. We know that LGBTQ youth need our support year-round: our research shows that 48% of LGBTQ youth reported that they wanted counseling from a mental health professional but were unable to receive it in the past year. For the second year in a row, we've collaborated with Kiehl's on a September self-care campaign to raise awareness about these important topics, as well as uplift our shared values of inclusivity, equality, and a celebration of diversity. This September, we encourage you to take your power back and embrace all that you are. It is a time to remind our Dear Self that we are worthy because we are enough. You can get involved by practicing positive self-talk and by visiting @kiehls for daily affirmations, empowering messages from some of your favorite celebrities and influencers, and a Self-Care Sunday giveaway series.
