A message from Congresswoman Ann Wagner
| | | Dear , The Putin regime stands alone during this act of evil. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a barbaric attack that must be condemned internationally and punished with immediate financial isolation through crippling sanctions and export controls. I fully support the Ukrainian people as they fight against this wholly unprovoked and unwarranted declaration of war. During these treacherous times, I am praying deeply for them. See my previous statements on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine here and here. As the number two Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I led the Committee’s Ukraine work while Ranking Member McCaul was in Israel. I briefed other Committee members on the situation and ensured my colleagues were fully prepared to respond appropriately. Last Wednesday, prior to the full-scale invasion, I spoke on the Mark Reardon Show about the situation in Ukraine. Listen to our interview here. Russia must be squeezed from a financial standpoint, an economic standpoint, and also from an energy standpoint. It is long past time for severe sanctions on Russia, and we must rebuild and unleash America’s energy independence. Watch my interview with Fox Business on Russia’s unwarranted invasion of Ukraine here. I called on the EPA to set a specific timeline for the cleanup of West Lake Landfill. Our community is incredibly frustrated by the inaction and lack of details and they all deserve better. Read here about my efforts to cleanup the landfill here. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Davidson Logistics in Bridgeton. I appreciated being there for the announcement of Davidson’s most recent expansion, a move I am confident will strengthen our regional economy and bolster Missouri families with good-paying jobs. It was great to see Don Davidson, Bridgeton Mayor Terry Briggs, and other friends. I met with the former and current St. Louis Zoo CEOs, Dr. Jeffrey Bonner and Dwight Scott. I presented Dr. Bonner with a copy of the Congressional Record I submitted to honor his great work and career at our wonderful zoo. I have so many great memories of taking my children and grandchildren to the Zoo, and I know with this exciting new leadership the Zoo has a bright future ahead of it. Thank you for your many years of great work, Jeffrey! I also visited SSM Health Behavioral Health Urgent Care, the region’s only urgent care/walk-in clinic dedicated to mental health. Mental health is an incredibly important issue, especially in the wake of a pandemic that left so many feeling alone and without help. I am so glad SSM Health has stepped up to help those in need. Sincerely, Ann Wagner Member of Congress | | | | | |
