🚨 The suspect accused of attacking Paul Pelosi told authorities he wanted to break House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's kneecaps to show members of Congress that there are "consequences to actions," according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court Monday. The Department of Justice filed federal charges of assault and attempted kidnapping against David DePape, who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer.
🏛️ The Supreme Court is apparently poised to roll back a 40-year legacy of affirmative action after it heard landmark arguments over the use of race in college admissions for nearly five hours. The majority conservative court heard from attorneys for an advocacy group who are challenging race-conscious policies at the University of North Carolina and Harvard. Separately, the attorneys of UNC and Harvard defended their admissions programs and sought to convince the court to hold the line.
🚔 Five years ago, a pair of eighth grade best friends were killed while walking on a trail in broad daylight in Delphi, Indiana, rocking the close-knit town of nearly 3,000. After officials pleaded with the public for years to come forward with any information, Richard Allen, 50, a Delphi resident, has been charged with two counts of murder for the 2017 deaths of the teenagers, leaving the victim's families to grapple with the news that the suspect in custody is a local resident.
💸 There was no winner that matched all six numbers after Monday's Powerball drawing and now the estimated jackpot for Wednesday is $1.2 billion, with a cash value of $596.7 million, Powerball said. If there's a winner Wednesday night, the jackpot would be the second-largest jackpot in Powerball history and fourth-largest in U.S. lottery history.
