Good morning! We hope your week is winding down nicely. Today we have a dietitian recommended snack that will help protect the health of your brain and a resistance band bicep curl to tone your arms — and improve your posture.

Walking Challenge

Today's Workout

Today's workout focuses on the upper body. While lean arms are coveted by many, developing upper body strength isn't just for aesthetics. The upper body includes the shoulders and chest and those muscles contribute to good posture. This bicep curl will definitely help you tone your arms, but it will also help strengthen the stabilizing muscles in the upper back.

Try the bicep curl:

With your feet hips-width apart, step on the center of a resistance band with both feet. Hold one handle in each hand. Slightly bend your knees and pull your abs in.
Keeping your upper arms glued to your sides, pull the band up toward your shoulders into a bicep curl.
Release slowly back to the starting position.

Repeat 10 times.

Numerous studies point to the fact that antioxidant- and nutrient-rich whole foods play important roles in protecting your cognitive functions — including your ability to think, learn and remember.

Blueberries are on the short list of foods to eat when it comes to preserving your memory and thinking skills. In studies, they've been associated with slower rates of cognitive decline and improved memory and executive functioning. Research has also revealed increased blood flow to certain areas of the brains of blueberry eaters.

You can snack on blueberries in any form, such as fresh, frozen in a smoothie, dried or freeze-dried. For a snack that does triple brain-boosting duty, add dried or freeze-dried blueberries to a trail mix with walnuts and popcorn.
