| 🏛️ The chief executives of the nation's top social media companies were grilled on Wednesday on Capitol Hill over child safety. After being called in the hearing room to directly apologize to the families whose children died after being ensnared in some of the darker sides of the social media platforms, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the parent company of both Facebook and Instagram, delivered an apology to the parents. This is the fourth meeting in a row that the Fed has not raised rates, delaying highly anticipated rate cuts that the central bank expects to make sometime this year. The next opportunity for a rate move will take place at a meeting in March. ⚖️ Brian Meloche, a longtime friend of Jennifer Crumbley and with whom she was having an affair with at the time of the 2021 Oxford School shooting, took the stand to testify in her manslaughter trial on Wednesday. Jennifer Crumbley and James Crumbley are each facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the school shooting, which was carried out by their then-15-year-old son Ethan Crumbley, who has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing four students and injuring seven others in November 2021. 🐕 Researchers have discovered which dog breeds are more likely to get cancer, and the results showed that large -- but not the largest -- dog breeds generally have the highest cancer risk, according to the study, published Tuesday in Royal Society Open Science. ☎️ A grandmother kept precious voicemail memories from her granddaughter's many milestones, from "I just got a new scooter" to "I just got the job." | |
