☁️ A blizzard warning is in effect in California, with a backcountry avalanche watch issued for the central Sierra Nevada mountains. The National Weather Service warned that "high to extreme avalanche danger" is possible from Friday morning to Saturday night. Rain will move into Southern California, including Los Angeles, from the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend, with 1 to 2 inches of rain possible in the foothills. Meanwhile, at least two people have died in the Smokehouse Creek Fire in Hutchinson County, Texas, which has burned more than 1 million acres with just 3% containment Thursday morning, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

πŸ›️ President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump both visited the southern border Thursday. There, Biden met with law enforcement officials and local leaders in Brownsville, Texas, to call on Congress to pass a bipartisan Senate border security and immigration reform bill again. This comes as a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction Thursday to temporarily prevent one of the strictest immigration bills in the country from going into effect in Texas on March 5.

🌍 More than 30,000 people, 75% of them women, children and the elderly, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the war between Hamas and Israel began on Oct. 7, according to Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry. On Thursday morning, Israeli forces allegedly opened fire on hungry Palestinians who were waiting for food aid in the northern Gaza Strip, according to a spokesperson for Gaza's Hamas-run Ministry of Health. Israeli security officials told ABC News on Thursday that the crowd approached IDF troops securing the passage of aid trucks in a manner that posed a threat to the troops, who responded with live fire.
