| ⚖️ "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez was found guilty on Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Jurors found her not guilty of tampering with evidence in the case. Following the verdict, the judge ordered that Gutierrez be remanded into custody. She faces up to 18 months in prison with the conviction. π The Alabama state legislature on Wednesday night passed the final version of a bill to restore halted access to in-vitro fertilization in the state. Republican Gov. Kay Ivey signed the bill quickly after the legislature passed it. Lawmakers passed similar legislation last week, kicking off the process, but the state's process requires a series of votes. The legislation comes weeks after the Alabama state Supreme Court issued a decision that embryos are children, causing three of the state's largest IVF treatment providers to halt care for fear of wrongful death lawsuits when handling embryos. π³️ Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley suspended her campaign for president Wednesday in the wake of a slew of Super Tuesday losses, leaving former President Donald Trump as the last major candidate standing among Republicans. The news comes as Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, a longtime critic of Trump and a frequent target, endorsed him on Wednesday in the 2024 presidential race. ✈️ Boeing has not fully cooperated with the National Transportation Safety Board's investigation into the Alaska Airlines door plug incident, NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said during a Senate hearing on Wednesday. However, Boeing said in a statement to ABC News that the company has "worked proactively and transparently" to support the NTSB's investigation, including by responding "comprehensively" to all agency requests with relevant information. π New York National Guard troops and New York State Police troopers will be deployed into the subway system to help riders feel safe after a spike in transit crime, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Wednesday.
