Rural towns will be hit especially hard with hospital closures, jobs lost, and small businesses shuttered. The GOP called it a big, beautiful bill, but what it really is is a big betrayal. This isn’t about blue states and red states – this is about common sense. We cannot gut health care or let children go hungry in the name of giving tax breaks to the wealthy. As Trump’s administration and the extremist Republican-led Congress devastate communities across the country, it is more important than ever to elect Democratic governors who are focused on improving the lives of working families – including in Virginia and New Jersey where we have competitive elections this year. We need to make sure voters reject the extremist Republican candidates for governor who support Trump’s extreme budget and the rest of his agenda at the ballot box this November, in our 36 races in 2026, and beyond.
