1. Get a Mac. It Just Works. ............................

You know the Mac. No one has to tell you how much you can do with iLife. How much fun--or effortless--it is to create an iPhoto book or publish your own iWeb blog. Complete with video podcasts, no less. You jump from iLife to Word to Keynote and to Excel without thinking. Connect peripherals without giving it a second thought. In fact, you probably show people all the time what "drag-and-drop easy" really means.

But because not everyone has the experience you have with a Mac, we recently began airing a series of ads that help us playfully articulate the difference between Macs and PCs. You can see them all on our new getamac website.

Better yet. You should send friends who might benefit from bringing Macs into their lives as well. They can watch the ads. And find out how they might come to love their Macs as much as you do.

2. 17-inch MacBook Pro. The Art of More. ........................................

Designed for pros on the go, the 17-inch MacBook Pro with its 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor offers performance up to 5x faster than the Power Book G4, delivering the speed and screen area of a professional desktop system in the world's best notebook design. In fact, when using the Universal version of Final Cut Studio, video pros will realize more than twice the HDV rendering and encoding performance.*

Just one-inch thin and weighting just 6.8 pounds, the new 17-inch MacBook Pro includes a built-in iSight video camera for instant, on-the-go video conferencing* and lets you showcase your latest creations--on location, in you client's studio, or back at the office--using Front Row and an Apple Remote.

Shipping now and starting at just $2,799, the 17-inch MacBook Pro includes a 36% brighter display and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card with 256MB of dedicated GDDR3 graphics memory to power pro apps.

* For detailed information about speed testing on 15- and 17-inch models of the MacBook Pro, visit <www.apple.com/macbookpro/>. For detailed information about HD rendering and encoding performance improvements, visit <www.apple.com/macbookpro/intelcoreduo.html>.

You'll need broadband Internet access for video conferencing; fees may apply.

3. What's the Story? ....................

Talk to multiple award-winning director and filmmaker Miranda July, and she'll tell you.

In her new film, "Me and You and Everyone We Know," it's to make a movie that feels the way life feels to her. "Sad and dark and confusing and more than hopeful. Like something totally incredible can happen at any moment with no explanation."

So far as she's concerned, making a feature film shouldn't "feel like you're flying an airplane or doing something you wouldn't normally do." Rather, it "should feel like it's a living, breathing part of how you experience life."

To create such an experience, July enjoys working in an environment that allows her to express herself without the technical process of making a movie getting in the way. It's an environment made possible by Final Cut Studio, the story behind her stories.

4. It's Only the Best for Mercedes-Benz .......................................

Each time the company gets set to roll out a new member of its world-beating, market leading, S-Class fleet, the in-house production staff at Mercedes-Benz USA goes into high gear. Their job? To produce high-definition video for dealer events, auto shows, and television as compelling as the vehicle itself.

That's why Rick Thomas, the firm's Digital Media manager, relies so heavily on Final Cut Studio, Xsan, and his fleet of Macintosh computers. "Mercedes-Benz is seen as a technology leader," he says. "Our customers expect it in our vehicles, and they look for it in our communications as well. So we do a tremendous amount of high-def video. And we always get a great reaction."

For the newest member of the S-Class family, the S550, that even meant producing iPod-based video tours of the car's new high-tech features.

5. A Resounding Audio Success. iMovie HD 6. ...........................................

Whoever coined the term "gone with the wind" obviously never used a camcorder. If they had, they'd know that thanks to the built-in microphone on most camcorders, the wind--once recorded--seems anchored to your video clips for good. Same's true for the mechanical noises generated by your camcorder itself. Proximity makes it all but impossible for your mic to miss it.

Sound familiar?

Then do yourself a big favor and get yourself a copy of the new version of iMovie HD. Part of iLife '06, iMovie HD comes with new, built-in audio enhancing tools you can use to virtually eliminate intrusive and distracting ambient sounds. In a snap. Or you can use the graphics equalizer to sweeten sounds or add reverb. Want your iMovie projects to sound as good as they look? Now they can.

6. Protecting the Environment .............................

Beginning in June, when you purchase any new Mac from the online or retail Apple Store, we'll take care of the computer you're retiring. As part of a new computer take-back program available in the US, we'll send you a box, pay for the shipping, and recycle your old equipment in an environmentally friendly way and without shipping any hazardous material overseas.

Long committed to conserving natural resources and protecting the health of the only planet we have, Apple was recently named a "Forward Green Leader" by the Sierra Club and its investment advisor, Forward Management. That distinction puts Apple on the short list: as one of the top 10 environmentally progressive companies.

What have we done to deserve this status? Visit our website, and take a look at our environmental record of achievement.

7. A Bundle of Joy ..................

Doctor Robert James Gallo has delivered over 4,000 babies to date. It says so right on his website, on the pages he created himself using iWeb.

Don't know many web-authoring OB-GYNs? Then you'll want to meet Hackensack's Dr. Gallo, an unassuming father of 12 who "runs his solo practice--meeting the complex demands of HMOs, HIPAA regulations, medical labs, insurance companies, and more--with the help of just three loyal employees" and a network of Macs that, you guessed it, he manages himself.

"I've never once had to consult an IT person for a computer malfunction or a network snafu. That's why there are no PCs in this office--nor will there ever be." For this doctor, the Mac really delivers.

At last week's NAB show in Las Vegas, Gallery, which markets a variety of audio and video post-production products exclusively for the Mac, announced a new Sienna plug-in that integrates Final Cut Pro with ENPS, the news production system created by the Associated Press.

The plug-in lets broadcast video editors see ENPS scripts and rundowns within Final Cut Pro.
