| SHOWCASE SERIES UPDATE FOLLOW US NEWSLETTER OC WEEKLY CONCERT CALENDAR FEATURED PARTNERS | | Hello Indiana, SHOWCASE SERIES FINALS RECAP The 2011 OC Music Awards Showcase Series wrapped with the Showcase Finals on February 24 and 25. On Thursday night the Best Live Acoustic Finals visited the Fullerton Museum and Friday presented the Best Live Band Finals at Galaxy Theatre, home to the inaugural OC Music Awards 10 years ago. The competition was steep in each category, but it was Micah Brown that remained on stage to accept the title of Best Live Acoustic and The Steelwells that gained the Best Live Band title. Micah Brown received a four-day recording session at Red Bull Studios**, a $1,000 Best Buy gift card, an Ernie Ball Full Endorsement, the Best Live Acoustic category title and performance slot at the Awards on March 5 at Grove of Anaheim. The Steelwells received all the same prizing as Best Live Acoustic plus a performance slot on the 4 Southern California 2011 Vans Warped Tour Dates. Each of the 10 Showcase Finalists received an Ernie Ball Tour Pack filled with strings and accessories. Chris Williams, Jeramiah Red, Seedless, Taylor Warren, and Ugly Paint join the list of Awards nominees. The winners of the People's Choice Award will be determined at the March 5 event by public text messaging to vote. AWARDS NIGHT 5 PERFORMANCES The March 5 10th Anniversary Awards event plans to be an unforgettable evening hosted by KROQ's own Stryker with honors and performances by Stacy Clark, Dahga Bloom, Micah Brown, Nancy Sanchez & the Evan Stone Quartet, The Steelwells, I & I, The Growlers and one very special guest performance to be unveiled on March 5. The Orange County Impact Award will be presented to Social Distortion, we will share in a special memorial moment for the artists lost in 2010, and honor acclaimed Talent Casting & Booking Director for the Walt Disney Company, Stan Freese with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Red carpet arrival begins at 7pm. The show starts promptly at 8pm. An after-party moves into the Terra Rosa Room at the Grove at 10pm. RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY SESSION LOS ANGELES 3/2 Starting in the afternoon and continuing until the wee-hours, the Red Bull Music Academy lands in Los Angeles for a one-day session featuring musical pioneers and former Academy lecturers The Mizell Brothers, Academy crew member Todd Simon (Breakestra), Rhettmatic, Jesse Rose and Academy alumnus Samiyam (Brainfeeder). During the day, expect informal lectures and workshops by the artists, while at night expect unforgettable performances at Hollywood's iconic Bardot.
