Portland: The Game
Make PDX your playground
Nothing's more fun than a scavenger hunt, especially when you get back to home base, and see the looks on people's faces when you plop down like six vultures and a coyote. For one giving you less hyenas, and more awesome local history, check out Portland: The Game, launching Thursday.

Created by a gent who suffered through too many excruciating tours that always seemed to "end at uncle Enzo's gift shop", The Game turns city exploration into an actually exciting neighborhood scavenger hunt played via text message -- so presumably, there won't be anything easier to find than "Greg Oden's dong".

How it works: After purchasing a ticket online, hit the start-point for a cryptic clue that starts a journey filled with stuff like snapping pics of artifacts and questioning random 'hood dwellers, then texting back answers that activate a hint (if you're wrong) or a Portland factoid and your next clue (if you're right), before finally giving you a numbered score that's tallied at the end of the hunt, and may or may not include a jerk-face dog laughing at you.

Three distinct PDX hunts will find you at The Portland Art Museum to take a picture of yourself sitting on the floor with a dishwasher, scampering through the Pearl to find a pair of elephants who'll teach you the meaning of "da tung", and scouring Old Town/ China Town to find "a good Bud" outside of the Saturday Market, apparently with the added difficulty of trying not to get busted by a narc.

Because doing things by yourself is for losers and freelance consultants, they point out the hunts are perfect for groups and daters, especially upcoming special games like one leading players through area breweries, where anyone with a handful of game can get to home base.

For a pre-launch special they're giving away free tickets when you head on over to StayBoots.com and sign up
