Although the United States is relaxing today in observance of Presidents Day, with U.S. markets closed....The rest of the world is open for business....I thought I would give you a quick briefing on overseas activity ......
In late morning European trading; Gold is moving higher in the wake of the Denmark terrorist shootings, and over anxiety as Egypt's air force struck in retaliation multiple Islamic State targets near the eastern coastal city of Derna in Libya following the release of a video that purportedly showed the decapitation of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians....This development threatens to push Libya's worsening internal conflict beyond the country's borders....Oh yes; let us not forget the looming Greek debt showdown.......
That said; Gold is $6.00 higher at $1234.00.....Silver is $17.37 up 5 cents.....Palladium eased by $3.00 to $789.00....Platinum is up $8.00 and changing hands at $1217.00 per ounce
Meanwhile, the price of Oil is inching in the absence of any meaningful U.S. participation....Last on Crude $52.98 up 20 cents per barrel....Have you noticed how fast the rise in gasoline prices occur, as opposed to the glacial pace of lowering them during Oil's price decline??!!
The Euro is up about a third of a cent against the Dollar.... Last Friday's lousy Michigan Sentiment data was the catalyst for the Dollar's weakening....Last on the Euro $1.1417
Asian Stock ended the trading day flat to up 0.5%......Europe is currently mixed and little changed with prices are up or down 0.2%.....Since New York is closed, that's it.....I almost forgot to tell you about an interesting research article I read on Sunday.....I am enclosing the link below....Trust me; you need to read it......Have a great holiday........Here is the link......
